The National Grid has appointed Grayling North to support its community relations activities in the region.

The two year deal will see the agency’s Leeds-based office work on a number of infrastructure projects and engaging with key communities and stakeholders as the organisation replaces old equipment and remediates contaminated former gas works sites.

“The agencies on the roster will play a vital role in one of Britain’s biggest challenges: to secure affordable energy, while meeting low-carbon energy targets and connecting communities to new sources of energy,” explained Roseanne Battye, National Grid external affairs and regional engagement manager.

“This unprecedented level of investment will touch many communities around the country.  Good communication is essential – not just explaining our plans but listening so local views can help shape them.”

All 6 of Grayling’s regional UK offices will work on the brief, with Leeds handling the North of England.

“I am delighted that Grayling has been appointed to the National Grid community relations roster. We have a strong track record of effectively engaging with local communities and stakeholder groups and we look forward to working with National Grid to deliver targeted community relations programmes,” added Patrick Leavey, director, Grayling Public Affairs.
