BHF releases hard hitting campaign as Tameside is named UK capital of heart disease

The moment Bolton Wanderers’ footballer Fabrice Muamba collapsed on the pitch is featured in a new television advert to highlight the dangers of heart disease.

The British Heart Foundation is running the Fight for Every Heart Beat campaign as research shows that people in Tameside are more likely to die from coronary heart disease than anywhere else in the country. Blackburn with Darwen is fourth on the list.

The advert, which is made by Grey London, starts with a cardiologist stating how much he hates his job:

“Coronary heart disease is not beaten yet – it remains the single biggest killer in the UK. We urgently need the nation to unite behind our quest to fund research to eradicate this deadly disease wherever it strikes,” said Professor Peter Weissberg, BHF medical director.

The television campaign airs nationally from tomorrow (20th April).
