Monday – setting the tone for the week
I start my day at 6 AM with a quick ice bath in the garden – brutal but the perfect wake-up. Then it’s breakfast and the highlight of my morning, taking my daughter to school. We always play a quick game of Sudoku in the car, a great way to keep her mind active before heading in.
On my commute, I listen to a podcast. Right now, I’m hooked on The Mindset Mentor. The short, powerful episodes are great for my drive, and I often use the key insights in discussions with my teams.
By 8 AM, I’m in the office for our Ops Board stand-up, where we check in with division leaders to track pipeline, project progress, blockers, and key events for the week. Mondays are also 1:1 days, catching up with directors to align on priorities.
We wrap up with a board check-in, ensuring we’re on track with our plans. These weekly touchpoints keep momentum high and goals in focus.
Tuesday – keeping the agency connected
Another ice bath, school run, and into work. Tuesdays begin with our agency leadership meeting, where all department heads share updates on projects, client developments, and opportunities. With a large agency like Visualsoft, keeping everyone aligned and communicating is key.
In the afternoon, we run an interactive business-wide presentation on AI, helping teams understand how to maximise AI for productivity. While AI is a game-changer, it’s essential that everyone gets the same level of training to apply it effectively. We’ve planned a full stream of AI-focused initiatives for 2025 to upskill the entire business.
Tuesday night, it’s squash at the local gym, which I find is the perfect reset after a packed day. It’s easy to sit down all day but I enjoy moving my body and keeping active, and genuinely think it makes me better at my job.
Most nights before bed I read, currently I am reading The 80 /20 Principle by Richard Koch. I try to mix up science fiction books and personal growth.
Wednesday – strategy & local connections
I swap the ice bath for a morning run, but still jump in after to cool down. Otherwise, I’d still be sweating by the time I get to the office!
Today, I met with the CEO of Property Webmasters, a local agency. I always find value in connecting with other business leaders, sharing experiences, and finding ways to support each other. Visualsoft is proud to be a northern agency, and so many of our team are born and bred locals.
In the afternoon, I carve out time to review our business strategy. It’s important to step away from the day-to-day and check our progress – are we on track? Do we need to pivot? Having this space helps me think strategically and plan ahead. We’ve big plans for 2025 and beyond, and I want to ensure that every person, system and structure is aligned.
Thursday – planning for the big away day
Too cold for the ice bath today – 2°C was a bit much!
Today, we visited The Arc in Stockton to finalise details for our full-company away day. It’s exciting to take the entire business out for a day, aligning on our vision for the year. In the afternoon, we run through presentations and themes – everything is coming together well. Shopify will also be joining us, making it a valuable event for our team.
Our partnership with Shopify is a massive deal for the business, and will enable us to support more clients. We’re all excited about it. Introducing Shopify is a natural step on our own journey to become the leading technology enabled commerce provider across the UK and internationally.
After my daughter’s bedtime, I hit the gym to unwind.
Friday – Wrapping Up a Busy Week
I get into work early to catch up with eCommerce contacts. I always like to stay in touch with talented people, even if we’re not currently working together – you never know when paths will cross again. LinkedIn is great for that, but it’s also nice to pick up the phone and have a chat, or meet at events which I try to go to as much as possible.
First thing on Friday we go through any big website projects we are working on. Check in on progress and look over the designs. Visualsoft has been known for its fantastic website designs and I still like to see every big site that we produce.
Mid-morning, we have key partner meetings, including a Google strategy session with Shopify to discuss the next phase of our marketing for 2025. Big events are coming up, and this partnership will be a major focus.
At lunch, I take a walk around Tees Barrage with our CCO – we try to do this daily to hit our 10,000 steps and take a break from meetings. It’s a really nice change of scenery that leaves me rejuvenated for the afternoon.
In the afternoon, we discuss office renovations – planning new breakout spaces and meeting rooms to create a better workspace for our teams. Our team is always growing and evolving, and I want to ensure that the offices we’re in are conducive to collaboration, connection and getting great work done.
By 4 PM, it’s our end-of-week team check-in, reflecting on key wins and next steps. I try to knock off on time for the weekend, as I really do believe work life balance is key. As a CEO there’s always more to do, but it’s crucial my team come in fresh and rested on Monday, so I try to do the same.
