Leeds agency helps Iceland get behind Iceland
Frozen food retailer Iceland has appointed Leeds agency Brawl to maximise its sponsorship of the eponymous national football team during the Euros.
Brawl has created a number of short films to be released across the company’s social media channels throughout the competition.
The retailer decided to sponsor the Icelandic national football team after being inundated with tweets following the team’s qualification for this summer's international football competition.
Brawl travelled to Reykjavik with the Iceland social media team to film players training at the national stadium - Laugardalsvöllur - and has also created some easy 15-minute recipes for fans to make at half-time. The #halftimehero dishes range from fish finger butties to whitebait.

Andy Thompson, social media manager at Iceland, said: “The Iceland players are the heroes of this tournament and their qualification for the competition is a brilliant underdog story. We’re encouraging the Nation to get behind Iceland as their second team and we’ve teamed up with Brawl to create some engaging content that will help fans enjoy the highs and lows of the competition.”
Iceland is Britain’s best known frozen food retailer, with over 860 stores throughout the UK, a further 40 owned or franchised stores across Europe and a global export business.
Martin Jones, managing director at Brawl, said: “Iceland’s customers love the brand and what they do. This campaign gave us the opportunity to create a range of content that Brits can engage with and enjoy while watching the football.”
Brawl operates internationally from its base in Leeds for clients that include Ikea, Superdrug and Silver Cross.
