Lancashire studio Short CGI has been appointed by Rolls Royce to produce 3D models and artwork for its MT30 marine gas turbine.

Based on Rolls-Royce’s Trent 800 aero engine, the MT30 is the world’s most powerful marine gas turbine, known as “the beast of the seas”, and is housed in numerous ships.

Short CGI, which has been working with Rolls Royce marine for the past decade, will make all of the 2016 updates to imagery on the turbine.

It has worked on the MT30 since its launch and as the product has evolved.

The work is used online in video, brochures, publications and exhibitions worldwide.

Chris Guerin, MD, said: “We’re extremely proud of our longstanding relationship with Rolls-Royce – indeed, it’s the place where I first developed my passion for CGI. We worked with the original engine model, creating a 3D model enclosure using detailed general arrangement drawing and our work was used online in video, brochures and as an experiential showcase.

“As the product has evolved, we have continued to work closely with Rolls Royce Marine, producing variants of the engine as required and so we were the natural choice to carry out the 2016 updates.”
