BBC Look North and ITV Calendar join forces to remember Jo Cox

A year since the murder of Yorkshire MP, Jo Cox, local BBC and ITV news will broadcast together for the very first time.

It forms part of this weekend’s Great Get Together events, which are being held in memory of the MP for Batley and Spen.

“Jo was a big fan of both Look North and Calendar. You might say she had to be as an MP in the region! But she knew about the importance of communication and your programmes have been keeping Yorkshire informed for almost half a century. That you should come together in this way is very heart warming,” said Brendan Cox, Jo’s husband.

Tonight, Calendar’s Christine Talbot and Look North’s Harry Gration will present together from Birstall Market Place on both ITV (6pm) and BBC One (6.30pm).

It’s the first time this has been done in the programmes’ 49 year history.

“Harry Gration and I have been friends for many years but it will be a great pleasure to share a screen with him and his team on Friday evening,” said Christine Talbot.

Gration added:

“I’m really excited to be teaming up with Christine and the team at Calendar. It’s the first time I’ll present on ITV, which feels a bit strange, but it’s great to join forces to report on these events taking place.”
