Gary Neville is to return to Sky Sports less than a year after leaving the broadcaster to take up the manager’s position at Valencia.
The former Manchester United captain’s first managerial appointment lasted just four months before he was sacked after winning just 10 out of 28 matches in Spain.
He was also part of Roy Hodgson’s backroom staff during England’s Euro 2016 campaign.
But as had widely been expected, Neville is to return to Sky Sports for the coming Premier League season, which gets under way this weekend.
He will work as an expert analyst and commentator alongside Thierry Henry, Jamie Carragher, Jamie Redknapp and Graeme Souness, and will also join Carragher for guest appearances on its Monday Night Football programme.
Neville said: “I am delighted to be rejoining Sky Sports and can’t wait for the start of the new football season, especially as there will be a variety of new programming on the channel.
“It is important for me that my role will be slightly different, and I am looking forward to the challenge of working on some new, creative and exciting projects.”
Sky Sports will show 126 matches this year, including up to 10 live matches on Friday evenings, with the latter to be presented by Jeff Stelling and Countdown host Rachel Riley.
David Jones will present Super Sunday and Monday Night Football, while Simon Thomas will host Saturday lunchtime matches.
