ITV Shiver’s teams in MediaCityUK and Leeds are producing a raft of new entertainment shows for ITV.

These include a Carry On special and special on Coronation Street’s Barbara Knox.

Carry On Forever is a 3 x 60 minute series telling the story of the Carry On format, featuring cast members such as Jim Dale, Angela Douglas and Fenella Fielding as well as behind-the-scenes footage. This will air on ITV3 next year.

Rita & Me will mark 50 years since Barbara Knox first set foot on the Coronation Street cobbles. The one-off hour-long special will be transmitted next month and will have contributions from her friends and colleagues.

“Shiver has always been, and with these new commissions continues to be, at the forefront of celebrating popular culture. Songs, films and TV moments like these are the DNA of our cultural lives – and give us all a shared, national nostalgia,” said Mark Robinson, creative director of Shiver.

“In shows like these we want to reveal the stories the viewers didn’t know about something they think they know so well. All of these commissions are an excellent illustration of the volume and diversity of programming being made by Shiver, and in the case of these shows, by the Shiver teams in Leeds and MediaCity.”

Shiver, which is the factual arm of ITV Studios is also producing 2 more The Nation’s Favourite features – The Nation’s Favourite 70s Number Ones and The Nation’s Favourite 80s Number Ones, which will both air next year.

It has also been commissioned to produced The Magic Show Story. Presented by Stephen Mulheron it will look at how British television fell in love with magic, playing host to international stars like David Copperfield.

Finally, it will be making You’ve Got To Love Christmas. This hour-long show will air next month with a mixture of classic archive clips and interviews from comedians, journalists and celebrities talking about the perfect Christmas.
