A screenwriter from Yorkshire has been awarded full membership to innovative business development organisation MeWe360 by Chanel 4.
Ben Tagoe is a graduate of the BBC Writer’s Academy and has penned episodes of Casualty and Eastenders. Currently on attachment at the West Yorkshire Playhouse, he’s developing scripts aimed at the Channel 4 audience.
“I’m really excited about my MeWe360 membership. It’s already given me a lot of food for thought and it’s been great to meet the MeWe360 team and the other members,” he said.
Nominated by the channel’s Creative Diversity team, Tagoe will get business advice, training, networking and funding opportunities as well as a meeting and work space at the organisation’s Soho office.
“The industry has to be more responsive to creative talent emerging from Britain’s black and minority ethnic communities, and other groups traditionally underrepresented in the media, and this is another way of doing that,” explained Lara Akeju, Channel 4 development manager for Creative Diversity.
Channel 4 is the inaugural corporate member of MeWe360, a not-for-profit social enterprise incubator.
