The new series comprises 13 30-minute episodes plus 10 exclusive three-minute webisodes, which will run parallel to the stories broadcast on the channel.

It revolves around a group of children who live at a children’s home called Elm Tree House – nicknamed the dumping ground – which is based on the care home from the Tracy Beaker books.

Lis Steele, executive producer of The Dumping Ground, said: “We’re really pleased to be able to bring the series of webisodes to viewers for the very first time and are looking forward to hearing the reaction of the audience to the additional storyline – it’s an exciting one!

“This series has a real mix of gripping drama alongside the more light-hearted moments that Dumping Ground fans enjoy and we’re hoping CBBC viewers enjoy it both on air and online.”

The first series, which aired from January until March this year, peaked at 684,000 viewers. It’s picked up a nomination for best drama at the Children’s Baftas.
