E4 has commissioned a 6-part comedy series about three graduates living in Leeds.

Written by, and starring Jessica Knappett, Drifters is about the reality hit when University and gap years are all over and it’s time to get a job.

It was ordered by comedy commissioning editor, Rachel Springett for E4 and is made by Zodiak Media Company subsidiary, Bwark Productions, which made both The Inbetweeners series and film.

Knappett (Meg), who was Neil’s love interested in the movie, stars alongside eccentric cousin Bunny (Lydia Rose Bewley) and friend Laura (Lauren O’Rourke). Her parents are played by Bob Mortimer and Arabella Weir.

“It’s about three girls in their mid-20s who have been mates for a long time; they’ve just come out of education, and are going through what can only be described as a ‘quarter-life crisis’,” explained Knappett.

“They’re getting their first taste of reality, and realise that they’re not just going to get their dream jobs. Their lives are not going to start automatically; they’re going to have to do something about it. They’re in their drifting, waiting-around period.”

Drifters is produced by Sam Pinell and directed by Simon Delaney. The executive producers are Damon Beesley, Iain Morris and Simon Wilson.

Episodes 1 and 2 will debut on E4 on Thursday 31st October from 9pm.
