Grimmfest announces full line up

Organisers of this year’s Grimmfest in Manchester have revealed the full-tine up of 36 films, including a number of national and regional premieres.

This year, it’s linked up with the BFI to present some special screenings to coincide with its national Gothic season.

It launches on October 2nd at the Stockport Plaza, with the screening of the fully restored, 40th anniversary release of The Wicker Man, followed by a Q&A with its director, Robin Hardy.

There will also be a special preview of Child’s Play reboot, Curse of Chucky and in celebration of the bicentennial of the Brother’s Grimm, there will be a viewing of black, stoner comedy, Hansel and Gretel Get Baked.

World premieres include short film, Radio Silence, by Mat Jones.

Other films being shown during the festival are The Borderlands, directed by Elliot Goldner and James Moran’s (Cockneys vs Zombies, Severance) Crazy for You. This stars Arthur Darvill (Dr Who) and Hanna Tointon (The Inbetweeners, The Hour). Members of the cast and crew will be in Manchester to answer questions.

Shaune Harrison, who did the special effects on World War Z will be running a make-up workshop.
