A family’s story of hardship broadcast on Key 103 prompted the team at Digital Next to put their hands in their pockets to purchase presents, a Christmas tree and stockings for them.
A woman called Caris who’s sister had passed away leaving her husband to look after five boys, called the radio station and told how they’d been forced to move into a one bedroom flat in Manchester.
Digital Next’s Anthony Knowles and Andy Holt were quick to get in touch with Knowles speaking live on air on the ‘Mike and Chelsea Breakfast Show’ about who he is and why they wanted to donate the presents to this specific family.
He said: “We are extremely happy to donate to such a brilliant cause. They were very receptive to how we wanted to help and even gave us some air time. We hope our donations will somewhat contribute to making the family happy this Christmas time, and we thank Key 103 for giving us the opportunity to donate.”
Digital Next also donated presents to Key 103’s Cash For Kids campaign.
Holt thanked the station for putting everyone in touch: “After hearing the tragic story of the five boys, as a father myself, I felt compelled to do something about this. It has been a pleasure donating to such a touching cause.”
Caris has recently contacted Knowles, thanking him and the team.
