Blanchard made Deputy Political Editor at the Daily Mirror

Jack Blanchard, the former political editor of The Yorkshire Post has been promoted to become deputy political editor of the Daily Mirror.

It marks a swift move up the ladder for Blanchard, who only joined the paper in April this year. He will be replacing James Lyons, who is moving to the Sunday Times.

It’s one of a number of changes at the Mirror, in the run up to the General Election. The Sunday Mirror’s Ben Glaze is joining the Daily Mirror’s Lobby team, headed up by political editor, Jason Beattie.

“With the forthcoming General Election certain to be the closest ever fought, I’m delighted that we have brought together an excellent political team who will be more than up to the challenge,” said Mirror editor-in-chief Lloyd Embley.

“Jason, Jack and Ben are a formidable combination who will help to deliver the best political coverage both in print and on Mirror digital platforms. I would like to congratulate Jack and Ben on their well-earned promotions.”

Blanchard started his career as a trainee on the Boston Standard in Lincolnshire before moving to cover politics at the Worcester News.
