Prior to that, he was group programme director for the Galaxy and Choice FM networks.

He will have an expanded remit across Bauer’s Place 2 and 3 Portfolios throughout the North and Scotland. Yorkshire content controllers James Lett, Alex Vladev and John Harding will report to him, as well as Place 2 content controller Scotland Duncan Leven.

He will report into Owen Ryan, group content director for the North of England and Scotland, who said: “Mike’s vast experience of programming in hugely competitive worldwide markets across mainstream, youth and more mature formats will be invaluable in our drive to return our Yorkshire FM’s to number one in all markets and to grow our Place 2 and Place 3 sub brands across the north of England and Scotland.”

Cass will start his new role in January.
