Just Eat has announced that Peter Plumb has joined the company as chief executive officer.

Plumb stood down as CEO of Chester-based Moneysupermarket.com in May this year, after 8 years in charge.

He replaces interim boss, Paul Harrison, who’ll return to his chief financial officer role, once Plumb arrives in September.

“I’m delighted to be joining Just Eat at such an exciting time. The talented team has built an innovative service into a truly international platform with clear leadership positions in many markets around the world.  I look forward to working with the Just Eat family of employees and restaurant owners to help more people around the world enjoy the food they love, wherever they are and whenever they want,” said Plumb.

Under Plumb’s reign, Moneysupermarket increased its share price 6 fold and also acquired MoneySavingExpert. He will continue as non-executive director of The Co-operative Group.

“Peter has an excellent track record of creating value for shareholders in high growth consumer digital businesses. His passion for customers and innovation, as well as his international experience in driving brands, and proven capability to retain, deepen and build senior management teams, made him a standout choice for the Board. Just Eat is the leading company in its sector and Peter’s expertise will ensure we continue to build on this platform,” added Andrew Griffith, interim chairman of Just Eat.
