Terence Davies’ Sunset Song has been shortlisted in the BFI London Film Festival competition.

Made by Liverpool’s Hurricane Films, it will play at the festival this October, ahead of its cinematic release on December 4th.

The adaption of Lewis Grassic Gibbon’s classic features Bolton supermodel, Agyness Deyn in the lead role, supported by Peter Mullan and Kevin Guthrie.

“We have the perfect storm of film festivals for Sunset Song – Toronto, San Sebastian then London and Hurricane Films’ work with Terence Davies continues with his next film too, A Quiet Passion,” said producer Sol Papadopoulos.

The film features alongside 12 others in the official competition.

Festival organisers have also confirmed that the European premiere of Danny Boyle’s Steve Jobs will close proceedings.
