AI algorithm helps singles find love on Channel 4 show Personal Dater

Can a machine find your soulmate?

That’s the question Channel 4 has sought to answer on its new show, Personal Dater.

And Manchester software consultancy Digiryte created a bespoke artificial intelligence algorithm especially for the show, which was pitted against two of the applicant’s best friends to help them find their dream partner.

Applicants filled out a questionnaire created by a Channel 4 psychologist and gave the AI access to their social media accounts.

The technology then measured each potential partner across 50 different personality traits including openness, conscientiousness, extraversion, agreeableness and neuroticism.

The subject’s best friends had to make do with a speed-dating style interview process to determine who they thought would be the perfect match.

Digiryte, which has offices in Manchester and Preston, has previously worked with the NHS and Vapewunder.

Personal Dater is now available to stream on All 4.
