The University of York has announced a special event with the former BBC director general and chairman of the Football Association, An Audience with Greg Dyke.

Greg Dyke, Chancellor of the University of York and Chairman of the Football Association and the British Film Institute, will answer questions on subjects ranging from education to the World Cup at a special event in Manchester.

TV Presenter and Producer, Rob McLoughlin, will host the event in March, which will include clips from Greg Dyke’s life and career.

Rob McLoughlin said: “Greg is one of the country’s most outspoken and at times, controversial, executives and broadcasters. Throughout his remarkable career he has spoken his mind and at times, damned the consequences, now he has a pivotal role in the future of not only English Football but also education and other areas of public life.

“This will be a unique opportunity for members of the public along with professionals from the worlds of sport and media to question one of the most influential figures in Britain over the last few decades.

“I’m looking forward to understanding more about his life, drive, politics and some of the most controversial moments in his life such as his departure from the BBC and his current thinking on Roy Hodgson and England’s chances in the World Cup. It will be a must to attend.”

An Audience with Greg Dyke 6 March, 2014, will take place at the Radisson Blu Edwardian Manchester Hotel, Free Trade Hall, Peter St, from 7:15pm. Tickets are limited and £5 per head.

Greg Dyke is expected to discuss the future of the media and football, as well as answering questions from the floor. The event, to formally launch the North West’s new University of York Alumni Association, is open to the public and will focus on the successes and challenges of an intriguing career.
