Trinity Mirror issues ‘no comment’ on ad-blocking claims

According to a report in The Times, Trinity Mirror is exploring plans to use software that will stop readers blocking adverts on their iPhones and iPads.

Trinity Mirror – which publishes the Manchester Evening News and the Liverpool Echo – has declined to comment on the report, which claims unnamed sources at the company confirmed the plans to the paper and said the move would be ‘potentially the biggest threat to our industry.’

Apple’s new operating system allows its customers to download the ad-blocking software. In the US, some publishers have responded by stopping people using ad-blockers from accessing content.
