Manchester’s on-call workers will be featured in a new documentary season for Channel 4 called Up All Night.
Britain on Call (working title) has been filmed over the course of 4 weeks in Manchester and features plumbers, GPs and vets who have to be on-hand to help out at any hour of the day or night.
It’s being made by The Garden Productions and produced and directed by Arron Fellows.
It forms part of a wider series of hour-long shows, including Shine TV’s Karaoke Nights (w/t), an uplifting ob-doc about how the characters deal with major life changes (unemployment, death, love, disability) through song. As well as The Mini Cab Office and slightly more unusually – The Toilet – filmed over 4 nights, showing the work of toilet attendants.
“Up All Night is a real opportunity to use a range of filming techniques to get an unusual and often unexpected view at Britain in the night hours,” said commissioning editor of the Up All Night season, Emma Cooper.
