InnovateHer has partnered with ITS Technology Group and Blackpool Council to deliver digital skills opportunities to young people in the town.

The social enterprise has a mission to get girls ready for the tech industry and also to ensure the tech industry is ready for girls.

“We are delighted to be working with InnovateHer to help support and build the talent pipeline of women in technology, flying the flag for the sector and helping create future career opportunities,” said Daren Baythope, CEO of ITS Technology Group.

“The role of technology and digital is increasing exponentially. As a business we are committed to expanding access to digital capability and also supporting those future leaders in the tech and digital sector. Working with InnovateHer, I believe we can make a real impact.”

Currently just 19% of technical roles in the UK are held by females and InnovateHer wants to eradicate gender equality by inspiring 13-16-year-old girls to consider careers in STEM.

“We are excited to launch this new partnership with ITS in Blackpool, which will see us working together to raise awareness about tech careers within the area, working closely with local schools,” explained Jo Morfee, Co-Founder of InnovateHer.

“I’m particularly passionate about working in Blackpool because I was born there, so I’m delighted to be working with young people in the area to ensure that everyone has equal access to opportunities. We’re looking forward to making a big impact together!”

More than 60 pupils will be invited to take part in the programme. Pupils who are in receipt of free school meals as well as applicants from minority ethnic groups will be prioritised.
