The Lowry Hotel says the refurbishment of six riverside suites inspired by an Oldham-born artist are ‘a vote of confidence in Manchester’.

The suites have just been completed and each contain a four-metre headboard depicting abstract artwork by the renowned artist Alan Rankle.

The project was delivered by global architecture and interior design practice Arney Fender Katsalidis (AFK) and the suites range in size from 82 to 92 square metres.

General manager Adrian Ellis said: “In the hotel’s 15th anniversary year, our investment in art reflects our distinctive customer experience.

“The investment is a vote of confidence in Manchester as a leading business and visitor destination.

“Our own investment is matched by the phenomenal pace of development around us in the city.”

A comprehensive makeover of the 165-room hotel has taken place since September 2014 and new facilities include a new QMS Medicosmetic spa and refurbished conference and banqueting floors.

On its 15th birthday in April 2016, the Manchester Evening News wrote: “The hotel has remained in the premier league – a refuge for superstar football teams like Barcelona, rock and pop legends, film and TV actors, and a legion of loyal customers.”
