Readers of the Newcastle Chronicle are being asked to take part in an in-depth survey about how the city’s football club is run.
The paper, one of three Trinity Mirror titles in Newcastle to be banned from the ground’s press box, has had a difficult relationship with the club for many months.
In April, readers took to Twitter to chose P45DUE as the headline on a story about the future of beleaguered boss Alan Pardew.
Now the paper is carrying out a more detailed survey, asking not only whether the manager should survive the close season, but also who was to blame for the team’s slump in form and whether fans are happy with the current owners.
The survey aims to gauge the fans’ opinions and will be one of three at key points in the football year, editor Darren Thwaites told HoldtheFrontPage this morning.
He said: “We’ve already had more 3,000 surveys completed with several days still to go – so it looks like this will be our record ever response. We’ll be publishing the results online and in print throughout next week.”
