International digital consultancy Monstarlab has announced the opening of its second UK office in Newcastle, and expects to create 100 new jobs as a result.

The consultancy, which is headquartered in Tokyo and has 29 offices worldwide, already has a UK hub in London. Its Newcastle office will be on Grey Street in the city centre, and will employ talent across service, experience and UX design, digital strategy, technology and delivery.

The hub will be led by James Hall (pictured, second right), Monstarlab UK’s Executive Director, who joined the company in January. It says that by 2024 it plans to create up to 100 jobs in the city.

Invest Newcastle supported the consultancy’s plans, helping them access funding through the North of Tyne Inward Investment Fund – through which Monstarlab has secured £680,000.

Monstarlab specialises in end-to-end enterprise-level digital solutions, and currently employs 1,200 strategists.

James Hall said: “We are very excited to become part of Newcastle’s tech community and would like to thank Invest Newcastle for their support of Monstarlab.”

Jennifer Hartley (pictured, far right), Director of Invest Newcastle, NewcastleGateshead Initiative, added: “Working with and supporting Monstarlab with their move to the North East has been brilliant. This investment into the city is testament to the strength of our tech ecosystem and world-class talent.

“Monstarlab’s commitment to supporting our region and boosting our thriving tech scene will further strengthen this key sector and our local economy.”
