Manchester’s 65twenty has reportedly appointed Mimi Turner as marketing director.
The Media Guardian’s Monkey column describes the appointment as a case of ‘frying pan and fire’ for Turner as she’ll have responsibility for the website The Lad Bible which is often accused of sexist material after having quit Northern and Shell following a bust up with its controversial boss Richard Desmond.
The Lad Bible, produced by the Dale Street outfit, claims more than 17 million followers across its brands on social media such as Facebook despite attracting criticism for celebrating lad culture and sexist content.
It is believed Turner, who left Northern & Shell in October, will report directly to 65twenty co-founders Alex Solomou and Arian Kalantari. Her social media profiles have not yet been updated to confirm the appointment.
Previously a journalist at entertainment magazine The Hollywood Reporter, Turner took up the role of comms director for Northern & Shell when it was first created in February 2012.
Northern & Shell publishes the Daily Express, Sunday Express, Daily Star and Daily Star Sunday
