PLW Creative has been contracted to reposition Wirral’s destination marketing brand.

Working with officers and elected council members, and representatives of the local visitor economy, PLW will lead a campaign emphasising Wirral’s tourist appeal and the opportunities available to those living there.

“This work will pull together a number of existing campaigns and brands, create a strong and compelling narrative and drive forward Wirral’s £500m per year visitor economy,” said Kevin MacCallum, Head of Marketing and Communications at Wirral Council.

“PLW Creative showed through their pitch and briefings, they understand Wirral, its strengths and opportunities and their passion for the place.”

It comes as the area prepares to host the Walker Cup and ahead of regeneration for areas including Birkenhead, Bebington and Moreton.

“With 7 million people living within an hour of the peninsula, [Wirral] is fast becoming a destination for families looking for new experiences and exciting days out,” added Paul Wood, Creative Director at PLW.

“We are leading a piece of work that ensures the delights of our coast and countryside, the skills and abilities of our people, and the opportunities and experiences on offer in Wirral are promoted to all across the Liverpool City Region, the North West and beyond.”
