Brighouse PR agency mounts salvage operation after Storm Ciara

Staff at Brighouse agency Faith PR have mounted a salvage operation following flooding caused by Storm Ciara yesterday.

The firm, based at Brigg Mills in the Calder Valley, employs eight staff. They are now working remotely as a clean-up operation gets underway.

Managing Director and founder Stefanie Hopkins told Prolific North: “We are next to a beck, which burst its banks and came through the building on both sides yesterday lunch time.

“We managed to wade through and save a lot of our equipment and furniture and have also had to rip up the carpets. If we had been a matter of minutes later then everything would have been wrecked.

“We had floods here four years ago and managed to escape them. We moved to the other side of the building because we thought it was safer. We don’t know how long it will be before we can move back in – it depends on how long it takes for the office to dry out.

“The roads are also closed and a container was washed down from a nearby rugby club, so there’s been a lot of disruption in the area. Everyone has pulled together and helped each other though, which has been fantastic.”

Storm Ciara caused widespread flooding and severe gales throughout the country yesterday. More than 20,000 homes spent the night without power, while flood warnings remain in place across the country.

Flooding and debris continue to cause problems for rail passengers and yellow weather warnings for snow, ice and wind are in force across large swathes of the UK.
