Mazuma Mobile has been announced as the new sponsor of groundbreaking Channel 4 series, The Circle.

The deal was negotiated by 4sales’ Nations & Regions in Manchester and Love Sugar Science.

“We are absolutely thrilled to be working with the team at Mazuma and Channel4 on such an ambitious brief. We all believe this is the start of something big for Mazuma and it is great to be part of the team,” said Love Sugar Science Co-Founder Jessica Scott.

Returning for a second series this autumn, The Circle is filmed in Salford by Studio Lambert North and Motion Content Group.

Its first outing was the biggest fixed rig, fast-turnaround show on British TV and also became Channel 4’s most popular new factual entertainment series for young viewers.

In the series, contestants can choose to be whoever they think will make them most popular with other players. They don’t get to know each other face-to-face, instead meeting through the profile they choose to share on The Circle’s social media site.

This will be Mazuma’s first venture into television sponsorship and its idents have been created by Diagonal View.

“This is a really exciting time for our business. We have invested significantly into creating a product and portfolio that sets new standards for the used devices market,” said Head of Marketing at Mazuma Andy Cruxton.

“The synergy between what we offer and how The Circle’s audience view and interact with the show was obvious. We can’t wait to see the show launch for season 2!”

Channel 4 has also created its own innovative marketing campaign around the launch, with host Emma Willis appearing to morph between different characters, to illustrate the concept of the show.

“Mazuma is the perfect partner for our young skewing game show which plays out almost entirely over social media. We’re thrilled that Mazuma has chosen The Circle for its first foray into the powerful medium of sponsorship,” said Rupinder Downie, Partnership Controller at Channel 4.

The Circle was commissioned by Channel 4 Deputy Director of Programmes Kelly Webb-Lamb and Factual Entertainment Commissioning Editor Gilly Greenslade.

Producers for Studio Lambert will be Tim Harcourt, Darrell Olsen, Daisy Lilley, Susy Price and Toni Ireland. Martin Oxley will be executive producer for Motion Content Group.
