We Are Indigo has been appointed to handle PR for club night Circus, as it hosts ‘The First Dance’ – British clubgoers’ first opportunity to return to venues since 2020.

Circus Presents The First Dance will be hosted at Liverpool’s Bramley-Moore Dock warehouse on April 30th and May 1st, and will require no social distancing or face coverings. It’s part of the national Events Research programme (ERP), which has set out to find ways to bring back fans and audiences to events.

We Are Indigo has been briefed with handling all media communications, launching a strategic press event showcasing the science-led night out, which will be one of a number of pilots planned for Liverpool. DJs appearing at the event include Fatboy Slim, The Blessed Madonna and Yousef.

6,000 clubbers will come together – having completed a Lateral Flow Test at a community testing site 24 hours before the event and dproduce a negative result to gain entry – for the very first club night in more than a year.

To further support the research goals of this event, partygoers will also be encouraged – but not expected – to do an at-home PCR test on the day and five days after it, to help monitor transmission of the virus.

Gemma Krysko, Founder and MD of We Are Indigo, said: “This is history in the making and the first steps to bringing the night-time and events industry back to into our social communities again. Being part of the first nightclub experience to happen for more than a year and sharing that with media and beyond is something quite special.

“Circus is creating a ‘first dance’ legacy that will be remembered in years to come and will provide a blueprint to opening up vital sectors of our economy locally and nationally.”

Circus Founder and DJ, Yousef, added: “We Are Indigo have been a great PR partner, globally illuminating such a significant and special moment for Circus, the music industry, and of course the entire UK during this pioneering pilot event project. As the date nears and the weekend of events becomes closer to a reality, me and the team at Circus all share an almost overwhelming feeling of pride, emotion, excitement and of course responsibility for what lies ahead.”
