A journalist, who’s covered Everton for most of his career, is set to join the club next month.

David Prentice will be leaving Reach, where he’s spent over 30 years, to become Everton’s Communications Manager.

As Sports Editor of the Liverpool Echo, he’s a well known figure on both sides of Liverpool, however, it is the Blue half where his heart lies.

His recently published book, A Grand Old Team To Report, covers his 45 years of following the Toffees.

He was a close friend of former manager Walter Smith, and also has a family connection – he’s married to the grand-daughter of Goodison legend, Dixie Dean.

The move comes as Everton goes through a difficult time, following the sacking of Rafa Benitez and a new manager yet to be named.

The club is set to leave its historic Goodison Park home for Bramley-Moore Dock in 2024.
