ITV’s Beowulf looks set to become an international hit, having already been sold to an American network.
The epic drama, which was shot in the North East, is due to premiere at the MIPCOM festival next week. However, Esquire has already signed an exclusive deal, which will see the show land on the network early next year.
“Delivering well-produced, engaging programming to our audience is vital, and we’re excited to bring such an action-packed, scripted adventure series to Esquire with the launch of Beowulf: Return to the Shieldlands,” explained Matt Hannah, the network’s executive vice-president of development and production.
ITV Studios are hoping it will be one of a number of international deals signed for the 13-part series, which stars William Hurt and Kieran Bew.
