General Motors has changed Liverpool’s FC official car partner to Vauxhall, following the company’s decision to stop marketing the Chevrolet brand in the UK.
It means that Vauxhall, which has a manufacturing plant at Ellesmere Port will become the club’s automative partner until the end of the 2015-16 season.
“Vauxhall Motors has enjoyed great success over the past three seasons with our Home Nations football sponsorships,” said Vauxhall chairman and managing director, Duncan Aldred.
“This exciting new partnership will undoubtedly benefit from the experience we have gained in international football and we look forward to working with an iconic club such as Liverpool FC.”
To celebrate the tie-in Vauxhall have launched a Facebook competition for fans to win a bespoke car.
“We are delighted to welcome Vauxhall Motors to the LFC family. Not only do they bring with them a wealth of exciting football activation experience but they also play a key role in the lives of many in Merseyside as one of the largest employers in the North West region,” added Billy Hogan, chief commercial officer at LFC.
