Visualsoft’s record-breaking Black Friday

More than £26m was spent across Visualsoft’s payment platform during Black Friday and Cyber Monday.

The Stockton-on-Tees ecommerce firm said that transactions had risen 37% year-on-year. It comes as total UK sales revenues for the period reached around £8.4bn.

“We have had a truly extraordinary four-day period with transaction levels higher than we have ever seen. The numbers of transactions and their value have both jumped by around a third on average,” said Dean Benson, Chief Executive Officer at Visualsoft.

“It’s clear that the enforced restrictions of the Covid-19 lockdown have had a significant impact on shopping behaviour but it does not automatically follow that records are set.

“Retailers need to be geared up and have the strategy and systems in place to stimulate and cope with this demand, using a platform like Visualsoft’s which has been robust and stable throughout the weekend, despite record levels of traffic and revenue. There will be winners and losers over the big sales weekend, but retailers who are able to maximise their markets and respond to customer needs, will have done very well.”

The increase in online retail has seen Visualsoft break another barrier, with more than £1bn of spending routed through its platform, for the first time during a 12-month period.

Its system is used by more than 1000 retailers in the UK.
