Entertainment Magpie appoints former Carphone Warehouse MD

Catterson

Stockport-based Entertainment Magpie, the parent company of tech trade-in site musicMagpie.co.uk and US site Decluttr, has appointed Anthony Catterson as the new President and CEO of its US operation.

Catterson is a former Senior Vice President of major US network operator Sprint and was previously Managing Director of both Carphone Warehouse and Phones4u in the UK. More recently, he was Global CEO of the listed online technology retailer eXpansys.

The appointment comes off the back of a year of stellar growth for Decluttr, which has more than doubled revenues in the last 12 months to a run rate in excess of $50m.

Steve Oliver, co-founder and CEO of Entertainment Magpie, said: “We’re really excited to have Anthony joining our Group Board to come and lead Decluttr in the US.

“We have huge plans for the brand and believe that Anthony is the right person to implement our vision and turn Decluttr into an even bigger success state-side.

“The business has experienced massive growth in the last 12 months and Anthony’s appointment is crucial to take the business forward and continue momentum on its recent successes.”

Catterson added: “Decluttr is a brand that I have seen grow rapidly over the last few years and it’s great to be working with Steve and the rest of the group’s senior management team to plan for our next phase of growth.

“The recent growth capital deal the business has completed, coupled with the hard work of the entire team on both sides of the Atlantic means that Decluttr is perfectly positioned to capitalise on the major growth opportunities in the re-commerce and consumer electronics sector in the US, and I am thrilled to be joining such an ambitious team.”

Across the Entertainment Magpie group, sales revenues for FYE 2019 are forecast to hit £130m.

The company was founded in Oliver’s garage in 2007, with the help of his friend Walter Gleeson, and is now one of the biggest eCommerce resellers in the world.
