Web design agency Mixd is creating five new jobs in design and development and moving from Harrogate to new offices in Leeds.

Mixd, which was founded in Harrogate 14 years ago and has 12 staff, is moving to the creative hub at the Leeming Building in Leeds to support its recruitment activity and further expansion. It plans to move to larger premises in the next 12 months.

Digital director Phil Shackleton said: “Leeds is the digital hub of the North and we aim to attract the best talent the region has to offer. We do a lot of work in the NHS and public sector, and it will be great to be close to NHS Digital in the city.

“As we continue to grow, we are servicing an increasingly national client base, and the transport links Leeds has to offer are vital. We have a built a strong reputation for rigorous research and stand out UX design.

“We are investing in our team to ensure we continue to lead the industry with a focus on Progressive Web Apps (PWAs), an emerging web technology, pioneered by Google. PWAs blur the line between websites and mobile apps to enhance the user experience and increase engagement.”

Mixd is a user experience digital agency specialising in information design for the NHS and other public sectors and has completed projects with numerous NHS Trusts and Clinical Commissioning Groups.

Recent projects have included web design and build for the University of Birmingham, North Yorkshire Police, Northern Lincolnshire and Goole NHS Foundation Trust, and South Kesteven District Council.

Mixd runs an annual intensive three-day course for up to 10 students called Work the Web. It has close links with Leeds Beckett University and the University of Leeds that help to attract over 100 applications from across the UK and Europe.
