Manchester United has launched an official YouTube channel as it seeks to grow its international commercial potential.

While being the most viewed club in the world online, it was unique among the top football teams in not having an official presence on the platform.

It now means every single Premier League team is officially represented on YouTube.

Today, Tomos Grace, YouTube’s head of sport for EMEA said that he believed their plans were exciting – “they want to go big”.

Some of the content already uploaded are “The Iceman” Victor Lindelof training with Manchester Storm ice hockey team; showcases of United greats; the United archive; and celebrity fans.

While also raising the club’s profile, it will also generate income from advertising to YouTube’s 1.3bn users.

The 22k subscribers it’s picked up since today’s launch may be impressive, but there’s still some way to go to beat the 3.8m following Barcelona and the 1.1m subscribing to its “noisy neighbours.”
