Reach launching new Liverpool FC digital project

Regional publisher Reach PLC is launching a new digital project based around Liverpool FC – and creating at least six jobs to work on it.

The company is currently advertising for a content editor, features editor, two staff writers, video editor and unspecified number of multimedia producers on its website.

Jon Birchall, editor for football at Reach Regionals, said: “We are currently expanding our team and our coverage of Liverpool FC across new platforms. We look forward to confirming further details once appointments have been made.”

The advert for the football content editor role states that the successful applicant will be “working closely with a talented team of editors and journalists, to drive forward a brand new project relating to Liverpool Football Club.

“You will be working on enhancing a new and engaged LFC audience for Reach, with the ultimate goal of establishing your place in a busy market.”

The company has already launched two stand-alone football websites - Football.London and Football Scotland. In December, the publisher announced a company-wide shake-up of its football coverage, with 16 jobs created and its regional football writers working as part of a UK-wide team.

As part of the restructure, Birchall was promoted from head of sport for the company’s regional websites to his current role of editor for football for Reach Regionals.
