Motionlab has announced that Westminster Lake has taken a majority stake in the business.

The investment company is run by Portugal-based digital entrepreneur, Fabiana Lara, who started out in the education sector, as the co-founder of Master Fluency.

She’s since focused on investing in UK-based marketing, design, digital and media companies, with a turnover between £500k and £5m.

“The partnership with Fabi has come at the most perfect time. After running the agency for over 16 years I felt it was time to hand over the reins to someone else and Fabi gave a compelling and exciting offer to support and grow the business alongside key team members already in the business,” explained Founder and CEO Simon Iredale.

“I will be staying on as a shareholder and as founder of the business, helping maintain the fantastic reputation Motionlab has had over many years, but also will be working on new business ideas that will compliment the Motionlab proposition.

“We have had a challenging time over the last 6 months due to COVID, but as we had a very strong financial position and many incredible clients we managed to ride through the period relatively unscathed. We are now seeing a huge demand for our services and our years of experience so it made sense to partner with Fabi and her team to accelerate that growth. Me and the team at Motionlab are really excited to see what the next chapter in our story delivers.”

Lara added:

“I was immediately attracted to the level of talent within Motionlab and the great reputation they’ve built throughout the years. The transition has been very positive and I’m looking forward to working with the team so we can continue to drive the company forward to its full potential.”
