Code Computerlove has launched a new microsite for Chester Zoo to coincide with the start of a primetime BBC drama.
Our Zoo, a six-part BBC One drama which begins on Wednesday, tells the story of the Mottershead family, who founded the zoo in the 1930s. The cast includes Anne Reid and Ralf Little.
To mark the launch, Manchester-based Code has unveiled an interactive microsite to crowd-source visitors’ memories of the zoo during its 80-year history.
The Me, You & the Zoo microsite has gone live today with an initial collection of stories, anecdotes and pictures. It’s expected it will grow and evolve as people submit their memories.
Chester Zoo’s online marketing manager, Simon Hacking, said: “With the new primetime BBC drama airing, based on the inspiring real-life story of our founder George Mottershead, we anticipate that there will be a lot of nostalgia around the zoo and a desire for people to share their own zoo stories from yesteryear.
“So many people have connections with the zoo and have been part of its history, our website is the perfect vehicle to capture and showcase this.”
Code has worked on a series of recent projects with the zoo, including the launch of its new app.
