large_size_MJG_8735_640x360-2Tales from the northern trucking institution Eddie Stobart will be leaving our screens after Channel 5 decided not to commission any more Trucks & Trailers.

The reality TV show following the day to day of the famous haulage firm, will come to an end after a seventh and final series which starts tonight.

The show has reliably drawn millions of viewers per show since first airing in 2010. It features the company which has become a household name since it started in the 1960s in the isolated Lake District village of Hesket Newmarket.

Commissioning editor for entertainment, daytime and soaps at Channel 5, Greg Barnett said special programmes have been a big part of Channel 5’s schedule over recent years.

“It’s always sad to say goodbye to something you love very dearly. These specially created episodes are a fitting end for what has been a high-impact series on the channel.”

The final series, called Eddie Stobart’s Excellent Adventures, will be a short run of four episodes profiling viewers’ favourite drivers and “highlighting their greatest journeys”.

* Eddie Stobart’s Excellent Adventure starts at 8pm tonight on Channel 5.
