Manchester’s PDI Media celebrates double BBC contract win

Manchester-based production company PDI Media has secured two-year contracts to produce rugby league output across TV and radio for the BBC.

Following a competitive tender process, the Deansgate sports specialists will produce The Super League Show.

The 30-part series runs from February to September and features highlights of each round of fixtures from the sport’s top tier. It PDI Media have been producers of the show – which is presented by Tanya Arnold and produced at BBC Leeds – since 2012.

Alongside the TV coverage, PDI will also produce 105 live games for BBC Radio 5 live and 5 live sports extra over the next two seasons.

The three-hour broadcasts will be hosted by BBC Rugby League Correspondent Dave Woods and contain build-up, commentary and post-match reaction live from the grounds across the Super League, Challenge Cup and England international matches.

PDI joint managing director Craig South said: “We’re delighted and proud to continue our association with the BBC and the sport of rugby league, which now stretches back over 15 years since our RTS award winning fly-on-the-wall documentary series ‘Rugby League Raw’.”

Other recent commissions have included several sporting one-off documentaries for ITV, while PDI Media also work closely with football’s Premier League and a number of their clubs including Manchester United, Arsenal and Chelsea.
