London-based production company, Koala, has opened a new office at MediaCityUK.

The firm specialises in television commercials and its clients include Selco, Mappin & Webb and Stratstone.

Its North West regional office will be based out of the Blue Tower and headed up Kim Nolan, who joins from ITV, where she was partnership group manager.

“Manchester was the natural choice when we looked at expansion plans. With its thriving agency and media scene, we felt that there was a room for a high quality production company, and we’re excited by the opportunities in the region,” explained founder and managing director, Phil Brice.

Brice set up the company in 1999, the former writer and producer was originally a DJ on the John Lennon-funded Voice of Peace pirate radio station off the coast of Tel Aviv.

The Manchester move marks a period of expansion for Koala, which has just relocated its London headquarters to larger premises in Shoreditch. It also has a regional base in Birmingham.
