Grimsby manager uses f-word 58 times during rant at BBC reporters

Michael Jolley

A recording has emerged of former Grimsby manager Michael Jolley using the f-word 58 times in little more than four minutes during a tirade against two BBC journalists.

The clip is believed to have played a key role in the decision of the League Two club to sack Jolley on Friday.

Jolley’s rant was directed at BBC Humberside journalists Matt Dean and John Tondeur following the 4-0 home defeat by Leyton Orient last month.

“You are a f***ing disgrace,” Jolley says to Dean. “Every time you interview me you’re antagonistic, confrontational, who do you think you are, Jeremy Paxman? You are a f***ing disgrace of a journalist. The f***ing radio station gives us f***ing no positive coverage whatsoever.”

Anthony Limbrick, who was Jolley’s assistant, will take charge of his first game as interim boss alongside physio Dave Moore against Newport in an FA Cup first round replay on Wednesday.
