In The Flesh is to be made into a full series following the success of a 3-part serial earlier this year.
It’s written by Dominic Mitchell, who was discovered through the BBC Writersroom’s Northern Voices competition. Developed by the BBC Drama Production team in Salford, it was shot on location in the North West.
“I am absolutely delighted and thrilled to be given this fantastic opportunity to continue exploring the characters and world of In The Flesh,” said Mitchell.
The first full series will revisit the town of Roarton, where the living and undead have reached a “fragile peace,” but the arrival of new characters will cause even more tension.
“In The Flesh was a fantastically original and engaging drama for BBC Three. I’m delighted Dominic and the team will be able to tell more stories from the riveting characters and engaging world they created,” added Zai Bennett, controller, BBC Three.
The series will be filmed later this year and transmit in 2014.
