Paul Smith, the former head of communications at Creative England, has joined the Manchester Chamber of Commerce in a new role as its head of comms. Stella Bowdell has also joined the management team at the Chamber as head of membership.

Following his promotion in March 2012 to deputy MD, Brother UK, the information, communication and technology manufacturer, has today confirmed the appointment of Phil Jones as its managing director.

Ben Hatton has been named managing director of Trinity Mirror’s Digital Marketing Services network. He will remain managing director of Rippleffect, but the new role will see him assume responsibility for the growth and development of Trinity’s digital marketing.

Dawn Williams has joined Madhouse from TBWA to oversee a number of its largest accounts, including Toyota. As account director at the Manchester agency she will oversee its largest clients, including Toyota, Johnston Press and K3.

Manchester-based Brother UK has appointed Julia Harrison as its new senior communications manager The newly created role is part of the company’s “ambitious growth plans” for 2013 and she’ll report directly to head of marketing, James Lawton-Hill.

Former Real Radio and Radio Aire presenter, Ditchy, has joined Star Radio replacing Tom Davies at Drivetime. While Star North East have said they’re delighted with the new capture, Ditchy admitted on an honest blog post that he didn’t have much choice in the matter.

The journalist and experienced public sector communications manager Smyth Harper, has taken voluntary severance from Manchester city council and is now based with the comms team at the Police and Crime Commissioner in Manchester.

Countdown co-host Rachel Riley is to join the presenting team of the Channel 5 programme The Gadget Show from the summer. She will not however be leaving Countdown.

Kathryn Blacker, the head of public programme at the National Media Museum in Bradford and a former BBC sport exec, has been appointed as Chapter Steward by The Chapter of York, taking on responsibility for the day-to-day management of York Minster's resources and commercial activities and overseeing staff and volunteers.

Ryan Kaye has left CTI Digital in Manchester to become the new head of digital at Liverpool agency Uniform. Kaye, who previously worked at Code Computerlove and Amaze, was CTI’s head of digital strategy.
