Trinity Mirror has appointed a new managing director for the North East division. Russell Borthwick will take full responsibility for the publishing businesses in Newcastle and Teesside in a shake-up at the publisher which also sees a new MD appointed for Media Scotland.

Specialist PR agency, Notch Communications has recently appointed two new members to its Manchester office team - Emily Foster and Jenna Woodburn.

Bolton integrated creative agency Absolute has appointed Simon Allman as creative director. Allman spent almost 18 years at Origin Creative in Manchester working with clients such as the BBC, United Utilities, Henri-Lloyd, Brother and Manchester United.

Alex Shepherd has joined Warrington-based ecommerce agency, Space 48.

A former associate director at Carat and prior to that MediaVest, Shepherd has been brought in as commercial director to “spearhead its future growth.”

Suzanne Kay, the former regional manager for the Direct Marketing Association, has joined Granby Marketing Services.

She takes up the newly created position of client relationship manager at the Blackburn-based agency.

Gurdev Singh, formerly the group business development director at Communisis, has joined Leeds agency Bloom as a non-executive director. He'll work closely with Bloom's management team, led by CEO Alex Craven.

gyro Manchester has made two new appointments to its senior client services team. Matt Inston joins from McCann Manchester, where he spent six years as an account director working on brands including JD Williams, CrossCountry Trains, Sage, Jacamo and Sport England.

Tracy Eastwood, the former MD of Bauer Media in Yorkshire, is to join Real Radio Yorkshire as managing director. Eastwood left Bauer after 16 years in October after a regional restructure. She originally started her career with Metro Radio Group and held a number of positions within Bauer across the North West and Yorkshire, including station director at Key 103.

Former journalist Chris Marritt has moved from Weber Shandwick to Citypress as an account director. Marritt, who spent six years in journalism with the Press Association and the Daily Mail before joining Weber Shandwick last March, will lead a number of national financial services and corporate briefs.

Diva Creative has recruited 3 more staff, including front-end developer Alasdair Jackson, who’s previously worked on sites for Universal, MTV and Sony.

The Sheffield-based agency is seeking further growth in 2014, following its best ever year.
