Screen Manchester to launch sourcing database initiative for North West film and TV crew

Screen Manchester - Elli Metcalfe

Screen Manchester has announced it is building a crew and facilities database to provide access to a facility and talent pool for the North West’s film and TV industry.

Screen Manchester, founded in 2017, is working on the Crew and Facilities database which will be a free service acting as a resource for producers, broadcasters and streaming services seeking to hire local freelance crew and facilities across Manchester and the wider region.

Elli Metcalfe, who will lead the initiative at Screen Manchester, has been appointed as the new Crew and Facilities Manager at Screen Manchester.

She joins from Manchester-based social enterprise SharpFutures, which focuses on working with young people from diverse backgrounds to help them secure jobs in the digital, tech and broadcast sectors.

She has previously worked as a freelance producer at Granada, ITV Studios and at the BBC.

Metcalfe said: “Whatever the size or genre of production Screen Manchester will help source the right people to enable each shoot to run smoothly and successfully.  We are delighted with the sign up to the database so far and are keen to invite other experienced production freelancers and facility companies to register.  It is important to stress that by joining, the crew and companies will be supporting and future-proofing the growth and connectivity of the NW regional network.”

Rob Page, Managing Director, Screen Manchester, added: “We are delighted to have Elli join us at a very exciting time in the evolution of Screen Manchester.  Her inside knowledge of production coupled with her extensive contact list and remarkable and much admired people skills make her the ideal person to drive this new and much needed initiative forwards.”

Production freelancers and facility companies are able to register to be included in the database now. For productions keen to hire, they are encouraged to contact Elli until the database goes live next year.
