Three new hires have joined Manchester-headquartered Social Chain’s media division, with the recruitment of a new Editorial Director, Head of Sales and Head of Sport Partnerships.

Sarah Perkins (pictured, centre) has joined as the agency’s Editorial Director; Mike Carrington (left) joins the media arm as Head of Sales; while Joe Watts (right) becomes Head of Sport Partnerships.

Carrington joins from LADBible where he was Category Lead for Games and Tech, and was previously JOE Media’s Head of Brand Partnerships. He’ll lead the sales team on the ground, developing the company’s sales strategy.

Watts was previously The Guardian’s Commercial Sport Manager, and led on sports partnerships. He will be the commercial lead for selling the SPORF channel’s value proposition.

And Perkins, who has experience at London agencies Brave Bison and Jungle Creations, will lead the wider editorial team at Social Chain, evolving social commerce for its portfolio of brands.

Social Chain Commercial Director, Sam Barrett, said: “Our focus for the media division is to continue to elevate our differentiated proposition of social commerce, whereby our audience of 85m followers are also our consumers.

“We’re changing the value exchange between both publishers and audiences, and publishers and brand clients. In order to truly capitalise on this, we need top-class talent. Sarah, Mike, and Joe reflect our continued investment into world-class people to help drive our ambitions forward and we’re thrilled to have them join.”
