Welcome to Yorkshire has announced that P&O Ferries will sponsor the King of the Mountains jersey in the inaugural Tour de Yorkshire.
The one-year deal will give P&O exclusive rights to the jersey.
“As Yorkshire’s premier ferry operator we are thrilled to be involved in this exciting event which builds on the success of last year’s Tour de France opening stages in which our company was also actively involved. We wish the organisers and participants every success,” said Sarah Rosier, head of marketing & sales for P&O Ferries.
Riders will accumulate points throughout the 3-day race to be crowned King of the Mountains.
“We’re absolutely delighted to welcome P&O Ferries aboard as sponsor of the highly coveted King of the Mountains jersey,” added Gary Verity, chief executive of Welcome to Yorkshire.
“As the operator of Yorkshire’s main shipping routes into Europe, P&O Ferries are a key part of maintaining the county’s success, and it’s great that they’re now a part of the Tour de Yorkshire team.”
The Tour starts on May 1st.
